Book trailers are like movie trailers (previews); they are advertisements. Many publishing companies and authors now create book trailers to try to sell their books. You are going to create original book trailers about a book you have read and enjoyed. You will watch and evaluate both movie trailers and book trailers to decide what makes them successful or not. Then you will plan and organize your ideas, gather digital resources including images, video clips, sound effects, and music, and understand and practice appropriate and fair use of copyrighted content.

- Make sure you understand the difference between a summary and an advertisement
- Have a hook for the audience: (1) get people interested/excited about the book (2) grab their attention with the first frame
- Don't have too much text
- Set the mood and convey the "feeling" of the book
- Length is important. Not too long or too short but enough to give a quick "taste" of the book
- Be mysterious! Don't give too much away. Leave them guessing
- Look at the theme behind the story and don't focus on every little detail of the book (themes are things like discovering who you are, falling in love, dealing with loss, fighting against evil, popularity, stereotypes, etc.)
